Mask “IL DIAVOLO” by Joe Ponti

LEGEND European avant-garde, a spokesman for the artistic direction of "NOVICHENTO" CREATOR OF "DOMUS", the great and unpredictable Italian architect and designer Gio Ponti prefer clear, simple geometric forms, luxurious materials and flawless workmanship.

He created functional and time-consuming things: cabinets, chairs, coffee makers, typewriters, kettles, vases and masks, electric trains, sinks and toilets, as well as interiors and houses, including the Pirelli Milan skyscraper.

For five decades, from 1928 to 1978, the great Joe invented unique objects for the Christofle House. Today, the Christofle - Gio Ponti collection contains more than 25 masterpieces of silver, some of which were produced for the first time only now according to archival sketches of the master. Among them, perhaps, the most intriguing object from the “Il Diavolo” (“Devil”) series is a giant silver mask, invented by Joe in 1978 and embodied in the life of silver by master Lino Sabattini. Currently, this surreal decor item from the limited edition is first presented in the Middle East as part of an exhibition dedicated to the collaboration of Joe Ponti and Christofle. You can see and purchase a mask from a real master in the Christofle boutique in Dubai Mall.
