Beauty and harmony reign in his world. And for Karan, the whole world is such an area. And as a professional photographer, he keeps us in constant tension. Tells story after story, with obvious pleasure watching our reaction to his personal perception of reality. And we, not feeling the catch at all, begin to empathize. For example, a child who violates parental taboos in his favorite children's games with chewing gum. And the most interesting thing is that in this empathy we are clearly on the side of the child. Where everyone loved us for what we are in this world. The service of muses does not endure fuss ... Looking at the pictures of Karan, it is difficult to disagree with the classic. Indeed, the poetry of happiness is so contagious! And so I want to believe the one who told us all this. And who led us through the labyrinths of laughter, smiles and sincere fun, so unobtrusively, but at the same time, so persistently reminding us of simple truths. First of all, that in the world everyone is ruled by love and a good beginning. However, children's images of Karan have a sacred meaning. But only the initiated are capable of exploring deeper layers. For example, the divine power of cinema! After all, the main photographic image of 2013 pays tribute to a masterpiece of world cinema - a story with hair! No, not the acclaimed Japanese sequels and prequels. Big movie with a bright star of the "golden era" of Hollywood. Rita Hayworth and her matchless Gilda, the heroine of the 1946 film of the same name. At one time, this tape provoked a couple of scandals. And one of these episodes was the one that was widely discussed in the legendary Shawshank Redemption trick with hair. Men could endlessly watch how Rita did it. So hair without any 3D effects mesmerized the auditorium. At Karan, Rita's tricks are done by adults and adolescents. And the hair, still stirring up the male imagination, brings the author dividends for a very successful replica. It was the hair, the vibrant photograph “Portrait of a Red-haired Girl” (Red Hair Girl), that brought Kapoor three prestigious photo awards at once - PDN Photo Annual Award, American Photography 29 Award and Px 3 (Prix de la Photographie).

In fact, there were three girls. Asian (brunette), from the Caucasus region (blonde) and our red-haired girl. They participated in the so-called test task (experts evaluate the bow, trend and look of the photographer, - Ed.). But to be honest, during the shooting we just fooled around, having fun with the red hair of our model. We examined them from different angles. At one of these moments, this picture was taken. There is no analogue! This is really the only photo in the entire photoset. And by the way, when we were casting, we did not choose a model with a perfect face. And they were looking for something extraordinary and plastic.
Did you expect to receive a prize for your work or did the awards come as a complete surprise?
The prizes for this shot are a complete surprise ... I was not known as a photographer working in the field of beauty, and even taking off hair!
What changes are taking place in world photography? What is art like? And what interests photographers the most?
Photography changes so quickly that it’s sometimes difficult to keep up with it! Now there is already a Nokia smartphone with a 41-megapixel camera. And the universal CGI technology (from the English Common Gateway Interface - a common gateway interface: the server technology used to organize data exchange - approx. Ed.) Has practically made a revolution in autophotography, and the photographer himself can only wait for the 3D printer to finish working! And yet the technology is not as perfect as it seems at first glance. They cannot copy the report, convey genuine emotions, empathy, decisive moments and spontaneity when photographing people. To understand this, you need to see the work of Sebastian Salgado ...
Can it be argued that today at the forefront is precisely advertising, and not fashion photography?
Advertising photography is very competitive. But to stand out you need to be innovative and take risks any minute!
Your photos are full of expression, movement, powerful energy ... Do you not like static so much?
Yes, I like when models are busy with something in the frame. I recently did a photoset with my daughter and her friend. Both are 14 years old. So, a friend was excited about the opportunity to portray a professional model. I had to ask my daughter to explain to her that photosets are not at all beautiful poses on the camera! I did a great shoot (it is posted on my website), but the girls were disappointed. They never got beautiful pictures for Facebook!
Have you realized yourself as a professional in photography? Or want to change something?
There is always something to learn! For example, before the advent of Canon 5D, photographers rarely invaded the world of video. Today, most of my projects involve the creation of not still photographs, but video frames. Therefore, you can never rest on our laurels!
