Fragrances of Arabia: Perfume House opened in Dubai

Dubai's museum collection has replenished with a new masterpiece - Perfume House opened in the Shindag area.

The house of the perfume was occupied by the mansion of the late Sheikh Sheikh Bint Said Al Maktoum, who was a passionate connoisseur of aromas: part of her collection was included in the museum's exhibits.

Among them is her own perfume applicator and a 28-kilogram piece of oud, a raw ingredient for perfume production, presented to her by the museum, which was still under construction, before she passed away in 2017.

Other exhibits were delivered from archaeological sites, in particular, Saruq Al Hadid, and were donated by noble emirate dynasties.

As soon as you get into the courtyard, you will be met with perfume samples and stands with descriptions of the ingredients used in Arabia to create aromatic compositions - from musk to myrtle to roses and saffron.

An interactive exhibition tells the story of perfumery art in the UAE and the travels of ingredients from the ancient settlements of Yemen through the provinces of Saudi Arabia in the third millennium BC.

Thanks to these "fragrant routes", the Arabian Peninsula has become the center of ancient trade at the crossroads from Europe to Asia.

The next room contains traditional perfume bottles. There is also a “mixing table” where you can make your own flavor. Everything in the museum - 5 halls with expositions. Entrance for adults - 15 dirhams, for children - 10 dirhams.
