A new nature reserve will appear in the UAE

In the United Arab Emirates, a new protected area will appear on which rare animals will live.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Sakr al-Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, UAE, has issued a decree establishing a reserve in Khor Mazahmi, the first protected area in the wetland.

Dr. Saif Muhammad Al-Ghais, Executive Director of the Office for the Environment and Development of the Emirate, said the decree is consistent with the theme conference in the UAE and Sheikh Saud bin Sakra Al-Qashimi’s commitment to protect the environment.

The protected reserve is located 14 km south of the city of Ras al-Khaimah and covers 3 square kilometers. It provides a habitat and food source for various species of wildlife, including flamingos. It is also home to a green turtle, which is listed as an endangered species.
