Authorities promise to eliminate congestion on roads from Sharjah to Dubai

The government plans to expand the road from Sharjah to Dubai, which will relieve traffic and eliminate congestion.

According to the statement of Dr. Abdullah ibn Mohammed Belheyf Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, by the end of this year, authorities will save UAE residents from congestion on the roads between Sharjah and Dubai.

The Minister noted that several projects are already underway aimed at eliminating traffic jams, including on Al Budaya Bridge. The cost of this project is 200 million dirhams; to date, 75% of the work has already been completed.

“They plan to open the four-kilometer bridge for automobile traffic in August this year,” said Mr. Al Nuaimi, adding that soon, truck drivers will be obliged to use the Emirates (E611) highway for driving at a certain time, which will also help relieve traffic.

The Minister noted that a special lane on the Emirates highway will be equipped for trucks - this will avoid congestion due to parking on the side of the road at forbidden times, as for large vehicles parking spaces will be allocated on several sections in two directions of the Emirates bypass road.

The official also added that the government is currently considering a project to build a fourth highway in the area, in addition to Al Ittihad, Mohammed Bin Zayed and Emirates, a project that is part of the Road Network Development Plan until 2021.
