Russian Council of compatriots created in the UAE

At a constituent conference held in April, a Council of compatriots consisting of 13 people was elected. The meeting, held at the Sheraton Creek Hotel in Dubai, with the support of the Russian Embassy in the UAE and the Russian Consulate General in Dubai, with the participation of representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, was attended by over 100 people. About two dozen speakers, including representatives of the Church, Russian schools, Russian-language media, Russian companies, the Russian embassy, ​​expressed their views on issues of community work. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to the United Arab Emirates Andrei Zakharov called the meeting "an exciting event" in the two-decade-long life of the Russian-speaking community in the United Arab Emirates. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation expressed his readiness to contribute to resolving issues that will arise in the process of developing a community that “adequately represents” Russian civilization and culture in the United Arab Emirates, he said.
