Our smaller brothers

It is better to euthanize a poor animal than throwing it outside. Pets will not be able to survive in wild-urban conditions, and this death will be long and much more painful for them, ”said a representative of the local animal welfare organization.

The crisis affected not only people, but also our smaller brothers - having lost their jobs and leaving the country urgently, some owners simply abandon their dumb friends without any help or even hope for it. Many of us simply do not know that before taking a pet out of the country, it is necessary to collect a lot of documents and pass all the necessary blood tests, which can take up to six months! What, then, remains for a person to do? Well, if you have friends and extra money, then the question, at least somehow, can be resolved. And if, in connection with the crisis, you leave for the last pennies, and your friends do not want to deal with your problems? What to do with a kitty or dog that has become a member of your family in the Emirates?

As always, it’s better to “lay the straw” in advance, even if you sincerely think that it will not affect you. Who knows, maybe tomorrow you will have to go on vacation, and you want to take your pet with you. In this case, the information below does not hurt. First of all, you need to deal with the documents of your pet, if you have not already done so. He will need a medical passport, where all vaccinations made are marked. For this, it is necessary that the dog, for example, be at least 4 months old (because only by 4 months can all vaccinations be done). On the basis of this passport, you must issue a certificate for export from your veterinarian, which immediately before departure at the airport (in the veterinary aid department) must be exchanged for an international certificate. Help can also be obtained from Dubai Kennels & Cattery (www.dkc.ae), a pet export and import company.

If you intend to fly away with the dog and return after some time, then you will need to visit the veterinary department in Dubai Cargo Village. There documents are drawn up for the export and import of the animal.

Mandatory for this:

  • the presence of a dog for showing to the doctor;
  • the presence of all documents and medical books of the animal;
  • the presence of a microchip in the dog;

Take care in advance of purchasing a bank card (e-card) in the amount of 200 UAE dirhams. Upon arrival in the Emirates, the animal is sent to the cargo department of the Dubai International Airport, from where you can pick it up if you have all the documents and an e-card for 200 drx.

When planning a trip, be sure to ask the airline whose services you intend to take advantage of, whether they are engaged in transporting animals, since not every airplane has a heated luggage compartment specially designed for these purposes. In addition, "the carrier has the right to refuse to transport animals and birds if it cannot ensure compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation and other states" (5.10.6.) If you are leaving the UAE for good and you cannot take your pet with you, hand if it doesn’t rise (naturally) to euthanize it, and there is absolutely no one to attach it to, then try to contact local non-profit organizations that are involved in helping homeless animals.

These organizations, as a rule, do not have hotels for animals and very few funds, but they will try to attach a cat or dog, at least temporarily, until they find a permanent owner. They will appreciate any help, and they also need volunteers willing to provide their pets with a temporary or permanent home. All animals that are attached to their homes are not infected with infectious diseases and vaccinated. They are also castrated.

The charity Feline Friends helps cats and cats abandoned by their owners. You can contact her through the official sites:

Dog problems in the UAE are handled by K9. www.k9friends.com

Activists from K9 Friends and Feline Friends recently opened a new shelter that accepts any animals and is open for free visits. The shelter is located on a farm between Ajman and Sharjah on the Dubai Bypass Highway (E611). Today, horses, geese, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, a parrot, and even a baboon cub live in this new house.

Feline Friends and K9 Friends will appreciate any help, and they also need volunteers willing to provide pets with a temporary or permanent home.

In addition to providing shelter and food to pets, the organizers of the shelter also had another purpose: the farm is a place where the whole family can come for the whole day (and even with a tent), where children can play and feed the animals.

The shelter accepts any donations, including helmets for riders, garden cars and furniture, animal feed, cash contributions, and any help from volunteers will be happy.

People, crisis, crisis, of course, but behind deeds and concerns, it’s sometimes worth remembering about those who silently live near you. About our smaller brothers. About those who cannot survive without our help and who will never say anything in their defense. They do not know how to speak, but they love us faithfully and endlessly. And they are the only one who doesn’t care whether their master is rich or poor, sick or healthy. The main thing is that he is! Or to be ...

The Animal Sanctuary and Petting Farm Shelter is open daily from 10.00 to 17.00. Additional information by phone 050-273-09-73
