Amid the global crisis, Dubai hotels are redefining their policies

Compliance is the new basic principle of the hotel industry in Dubai. Hotels, one by one, are abandoning strict standard rates for accommodation, trying to develop a strategy that would allow them to adapt to periods of economic boom and bust. New strategies give Dubai hotels the opportunity to lower or raise rates depending on demand and the general situation in the hotel services market. Thus, hotels manage to maintain a significant portion of sales even during the financial crisis.

The number of applications for accommodation in hotels in Dubai last year increased by about 1 million compared to 2009. In addition, tourists began to stay in hotels in Dubai for a longer period: on average, according to statistics, each guest in 2010 had 3 nights of accommodation.

The growing demand for accommodation in the UAE allows the leaders of the country's hotel industry to consider opening new hotels in 2011/2012. So, the Abu Dhabi-based Five Continents hotel group intends to start building 3-4 hotels this year and has already planned to open 3 hotels next year.
